Downtown Decorating Fun

Check out the Methodist Church Yard!
We had so much fun with our corn candy items.

FLY SWATTER FUN!!!

We are learning long vowel a words.  We know that you can spell a long vowel a
with an 'ai' in the middle of the word.  Another way to spell long vowel a words is with the 'ay' at the end of the word.  The last way we have learned is with the sneaky e that makes the vowel a say the long name.
Here are pictures showing the fun time we had swatting long vowel a words.

Fire Prevention

October is fire prevention month.  Our local fire fighters came with trucks and practice equipment to stress how important is is to be prepared.
Here are things we learned.
1.  Stop, drop, and roll if your clothes are on fire.
2.  Use the back of your hand to feel if a door is hot.
3.  When the smoke alarm goes off, crawl low to the ground and get out of the house.
4.  Don't go back into the house for your pet or toy.  Get out and STAY OUT!
5.  Run to the fire fighter if you are trapped in the house.  They are there to help keep us save.
6.   Call 911 from your safe spot where your family plans to meet.
Here are our pictures.

Family Fun Night

October 4th second graders had their family fun night.  We had a great turn out with parents and students having fun.  We had parents partner with their child and read an AR book.  After reading the book, "Farmer
Gus and the Very Big Sneeze," they took an AR test.  Everybody's score was terrific.
Camden and mom reading.
The Mitchell family.
Reata with mom and dad.
Makayla reading with mom.
Little sister doing her own thing while Monica reads.
Sierra and mom reading about Farmer Gus.
Novah showing dad her great reading skills.
Jerzi reading with her dad.
Our next activity was the famous second grade pumpkin roll race across the gym.  This year we added a twist.  Not only did they have to roll the pumpkins, but they had to build corn candy 3 digit numbers.
Reata and mom finding the third piece of the candy corn number.
We finished the night with cookies and a drink.
  Thanks for coming.
